Jazz

Jazz was bred by Jean Miller of Solo Standards. I had always had little dogs (6 to 12 pounds) and had decided that I would love a standard poodle that could go hiking with me (my Harley would never make it up the hill without making me carry him). We were living in Colorado Springs where I was teaching at the Air Force Academy and we had a huge hiking/biking park 2 minutes down the street from our home. I found Jean’s website and saw her beautiful black and white standard poodles, Mona and Henry, and knew I would love one of their puppies. I got Jazz right before my birthday and it felt like the best birthday present I could ever give to myself! My husband and I have 4 sons, so bringing home a baby girl was a special joy for us both. She was dainty, adorable, gentle and so very loving. We fell in love with her the day she came home with us and as she grew, she did become my hiking partner during our time there. Jazz runs like the wind and is such a joy to watch. We really hated to leave Colorado.

Jazz has enjoyed and done well in obedience, agility and nosework classes and also took a therapy dog class when we were in Virginia, but we moved and didn’t get back to it until later. She loves to please us. Jazz has a special way of looking at your heart and making you feel like the most important person in the world. Most people that come for a visit to look at puppies always ask me if I’d sell them Jazz. They all want to take her home with them! She imparted her wonderful sweet loving temperament onto all her puppies! Jazz gave us three wonderful litters and is officially retired from breeding and enjoying just being loved and spoiled by us. She has taught Maya and Jade manners as they have been growing up in our home. Jazz is the quiet gentle Alpha of the pack and can flip any of them over in an instant if they get out of line. She is now enjoying playing with them and they greet her with kisses now. I eventually did get Jazz back into a therapy dog class in Texas and we are now a certified therapy dog team with Paws 4 Hearts Working Therapy Dogs. She loves doing therapy visits and makes each person feel special.
